500 mL or 1 L IV Hydration: Why Fluid Volume Needs Clinical Review

The difference between a 500 mL and a 1 L IV bag is the amount of fluid: 1 L is 1,000 mL, twice the volume of 500 mL. That simple measurement does not tell you which treatment is appropriate for your body.

At IV Vitamin Therapy Clinic, fluid volume is a clinical decision. Comparing sizes and prices can help you understand the menu, but it should not replace the review that happens before treatment.

Bag volume is separate from ingredients

A larger bag does not necessarily contain more vitamins, and a smaller bag is not necessarily a weaker version of another formulation. Read the actual service description for fluid volume and ingredients. Do not assume that all drips use the same base solution or nutrient doses.

Our Rehydrate options contain saline with no added vitamins. A 500 mL infusion is listed at $85 and a 1 L infusion at $99. The price difference does not mean a larger volume is recommended for everyone.

Why the clinical team asks about your history

Before an infusion, describe your symptoms, recent fluid intake, medications, allergies, and significant health conditions. Tell the team about previous IV treatment and any reaction. Heart or kidney problems are especially relevant to whether fluid administration is appropriate.

The clinician considers the whole presentation rather than selecting a volume from a single symptom such as tiredness. Treatment may be declined or you may be directed to a different setting. A requested bag size does not establish eligibility.

Does everyone who feels dehydrated need an IV?

No. Mild dehydration may be managed by drinking fluids, while severe dehydration can require hospital treatment. If you are persistently unwell, seek assessment of the cause rather than assuming a larger IV bag is the answer.

Confusion, fainting, little or no urination, or rapid breathing are reasons to seek prompt medical help. Our elective clinic and mobile appointments do not replace emergency care. Call 911 for a medical emergency.

Volume and appointment duration are different

Do not estimate your appointment time from bag size alone. The selected formulation, prescribed rate, screening, IV placement, and monitoring affect the visit. Some specialty infusions require a different schedule from a basic hydration appointment.

Ask the clinic how much time to allow for your particular treatment. If you are planning around a flight, performance, or event, share that schedule when requesting the visit.

Compare the full clinic or mobile price

Clinic visits use the infusion price. Mobile visits add one $100 dispatch fee per visit. A single mobile 500 mL Rehydrate appointment is therefore $185, and a single mobile 1 L Rehydrate appointment is $199, before any other approved services. Confirm the final quote and availability.

Group discounts are based on guest count, not on choosing a larger bag. Groups of 5 or more receive 10% off infusion prices; groups of 10 or more receive 15% off. The mobile dispatch fee is added separately.
